Another Arrest Made in Connection with Recent Gold Scam in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: In the ongoing investigation into the recent gold scam, yet another individual has been apprehended by authorities. This development follows the seizure of 60.716 kilograms of gold at Tribhuvan International Airport by the Department of Revenue Investigation on July 19.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kuber Kadayat, confirmed the arrest of Shiva Kumar Sarraf, hailing from Bara district. Sarraf was taken into custody by a team from the Central Investigation Bureau on Thursday night.

With Sarraf's arrest, the total number of individuals detained in connection with the gold scam has now risen to 27, according to police sources.

In a separate case related to financial misconduct, law enforcement officials have publicly disclosed the arrest of Sushan Ghimire, a 22-year-old resident of Godavari municipality-7 in Lalitpur. Ghimire, currently residing in Gothatar, Kathmandu, is accused of swindling Rs 1.095 million by sending a fraudulent receipt online.

Superintendent of Police Rabindra Regmi, the spokesperson of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office in Minbhawan, announced that Ghimire has been transferred to the District Police Range in Teku for further investigation into the case.
